A "Dot" of Spring

Wow, I received a great package in the mail today from Dot, over at Picket's Place!! A very generous giveaway. I opened the box and started unloading all the goodies. My hubby said, "is that all from one giveaway?" That's Dot I said. I love it all. Look at the color is has added to my kitchen. Th e red canister set just pops! I'm going to put some staples from the pantry in those and put them in my Hoosier cabinet! The little custered cups I know for sure I will use for the 4th of July as condiment dishes. I may put some salt and pepper in them and set them by stove. And look how well the towels match everything. The browns go great in my kitchen and now this red just adds to it~
I'm so excited to put this to use. Dot has placed small pebbles in hers and has some beautiful spring flowers on her post today!~ I can't wait to get to Hobby Lobby and purchase some spring buds. Thanks so much again Dot for your generosity and thoughtfulness you put into this giveaway. I love it all!!!!

Of course, my jar collection I posted on not to long ago.
And my love for enamelware!! I cant seem to pass this up. I have way to much and yet I keep looking?????
This set is on the back wall of the screened in porch.
More enamelware in the laundry rm. along with a small collection of whisk brooms.
My whisk brooms I made into a valance in the laundry rm. No, I didn't come up with this idea. I think I first saw it in the Junk Beautiful magazine by Ki Nassauer, love those books!
More enamelware and jars.Well that will do for now on some of my collections. I'd love to part with the collection of dust! Any takers??????LOL

A long week

What a long week, my baby girl had to have an emergency appendextamy last Thurs. She came home sick from school on wed. and I thought she had the flu. A CT later showed her appendix was bulging. She's back to school and feeling better. Scary tho. It's hard when it's your kids. That's kept me busy caring for her. Not done much else. Ready to play catchup on the laundry and house. Finally the snow is melting and the temps are milder. Have a great weekend

The Trees Are Down...

but I'm leaving my winter garland up. I found some great garland after Christmas and I love the looks of it.

Well we had a great Christmas. Here are a few shoots of the wee one opening our Christmas on the Eve.

She"ll not like this pic, she loves the hat tho.

Christmas morning we all get up and meet at my parents house and open gifts in the jamas. Here are Taylor and my niece Brooke in a pile of wrapping!

My niece Chelsea has found another corner of the living rm. to open hers.

We were busily opening presents and I said" Dad, why is there a snorkle firetruck in your front yard? It seems the neighbors chimney fire had got out of hand. Quite exciting. We felt for the firemen would could not be spending Christmas morning with thier families.

Yea!!!!!!!Taylor got into the DMV and passed her book portion of the test. Now she may drive with an adult anywhere. She just snuck in because as of Jan. 01, 2010 she would have had to wait until her 17th birthday to get the divers liescnece. She is excited. Now she wantes to go to Walmart with me all the time. These slick roads has not been the best. But I have let her drive on them.

More of my garland and I found these adorable little red birds that clip onto the trees and garland. I think I bought 5 and have them all around!

Love this. I perched a few in teh cedar Charlie Brown tree. I will keep this up until it starts to look pewney.

I was suppose to have this done for Christmas but I got so busy. My mom had seen this saying and wanted it for her home. I finished it up last night.

These are a few of my favorite gifts I got for Christmas. We found the srainer and pan at a flea market and then on another trip found a matching roast. I just love them. I haven't found a place for them. I'm hoping to place them ontop of my cabniets.

More garland and red birds.

I took down the Santa underwear and left up the snowman stuff. This is outside my patio doors.

Well some winters we don't get much snow to speak of. And we have had this snow since the 25th. I'm sick of it already. Its been so bitter cold so it isn't melting much, just to refreeze and make it extremely slick for the next morning. It's hard and crunchy now and mostly it's that ugly frozen sludge. Is it to early to say I'm ready for spring? I have enjoyed feeding my birds and squirrels. My husband is in the bread bussiness and we never want for bread so I'm constantly throwing out day old stuff. The birds gobble it up!! Well the daughter went to church with the boyfriend to help with the taking down of the Christmas decorations and I need to get some things done. Still need to get the galand and lights down off the kitchen cabniets. Have a great weekend!

Thursday, December 24, 2009

Well it looks as if our "little girls" who aren't so little any more were on the nice list?? Hey am I kidding, to be them! It's Christmas everyday for them. They are given their every whim. It's pretty sad when their asked what they want for Christmas and they don't know. I know, it's because they already have anything they want! But Santa will be "nice to them again this yr. They are good girls, good grades, polite manners, good hearts. Chelsea, Santa does know about that fender bender~Looks like we will be getting a white Christmas this yr. in southeast Kansas!! In about an hr. it's suppose to let loose with some flakes. We are under a severe winter warning. I see all you girls pics with snow covered roofs already. We here haven't had a white Christmas for yrs. I am headed to Blockbuster for the movie and need to get the turkey in this evening. I think we will try to make our way into church with Taylor's boyfriends family for a candlelight service tonight.
May you all have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Yr. with your!!

Jingle Bells Jingle Bells

Well we are off for Christmas break, two wks! I had made a list of things I wanted to accomplish and I have started on it. Yea! One of the things was to switch out my pie safe for all the odds and ends I had in it to include mainly my old zinc lid jar collection. Ok I had the TV on Hoarders that show that features all the people that collect uncontrollably. I told my husband if I come home with another old jar just to shoot me!

This is not even all of them but I want to save the lower shelf for a collection of old tins I have started. I filled them with staples i had in the cupboard.

I have purchased a few new gentlemen for my many trees I have this yr. I seem to have mostly the Honey and ME collection. I just love them.

I found a local restaurant that had many of them for sale. This little gal has cute decorations and her house is darling.

They will live happily on my trees!!

I stuck a few in some garland I have on the coffee table along with a flame less pillar candle I discovered at Hobby Lobby.

This cute little pail I found at a flea market on sale for $7. I added a to and from prim tag to it for the holidays!

and I splurged for this old child skate board for $25. I didn't want to pay that much but I know I could use it under the tree and all yr really. I love the old rust wheels.

Added a new picture of Taylor to the fireplace.

The Hoosier cabinet in the kitchen I added some new garland.

My main goal for the day after is some new garland. I see many of you ladies have the real thing gracing your tables and cabinets. I don't have the luxury of running out my backdoor and clipping some from a pine tree much here in Kansas. So I am on the look out for some realistic greenery this Dec. 26th.

This little tree sits in a cheese box on my kitchen window sill with a couple of old enamelware lids.

More greenery on the entry table.

And surprise I must have added another few pics of the pie safe. Well I think today I will get my sweet potato pie ready for the oven. The turkey is defrosting in the fridge. I'll wait on the two cheese cakes and the salads. Everyone is coming here for Christmas dinner. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year with yours.
